Cupping Therapy is said to have originated around 1500 B.C. It is very deeply related to Acupuncture and relies on the same belief of aligning the energy of one’s body. It also upholds the importance of releasing toxins from the largest organ of the body, skin. This therapy method utilizes “cups” with a small amount of suction to increase blood flow to a certain area, located around the pressure points mentioned in acupuncture. Further, the heat and tension generated are said to help reduce pain and inflammation within such tissues. There may be some bruising from the treatment, which can take up to three days to fade, but many patients love how it helps them and makes them feel!
